Queensland Celebrates Multiculturalism on Australia Day

By David Bell

The state of Queensland, home to many vibrant urban cities and regional towns – including our very own Rockhampton – celebrated multiculturalism on Australia Day.

More than 70 special ceremonies were held around the state to mark the 65th year of Australian citizenship.

Federal Minister for Immigration and Citizenship Scott Morrison said the day was an important celebration for both Australian natives and new citizens alike.

"The Australian story is one of courage, mateship, endurance and sacrifice. It is our duty to honour the contribution of previous generations and to uphold the values that guided them and have stood the test of time," Mr Morrison said.

"Australia Day is always a special day for Australians and with this year's events also marking the 65th year of Australian citizenship, there has never been a better time to celebrate the spirit and diversity of our country."

In addition to being located in the beautiful, multicultural state of Queensland, Rockhampton offers a serene regional lifestyle and many local job prospects. To learn more about real estate in Rockhampton, get in touch with a property agent today.
