Free Community Workshops for Rockhampton Residents

By David Bell

Residents of Rockhampton who have their eye on learning something new might find what they are looking for at the Community Development Centre's morning expo.

Held on May 23, the event is designed to celebrate Community Centres Month – and it is also an excellent opportunity for owners of real estate in Rockhampton to learn new skills.

Rose Swadling, chair of Rockhampton council's communities committee, explained that there will be nine different workshops on offer, ranging from storytelling to gardening and Tai Chi.

"There will also be a great range of information stands available throughout the morning, allowing residents to learn more about some fantastic community groups and what they offer," she commented.

The Community Development Centre is an important facility for people throughout the region, as it offers life-long opportunities for learning and outreach services.

All members of the Rockhampton community are invited along to the event, where they can chat with groups and perhaps even be inspired to do something new and different.

Also on offer will be a complimentary morning tea, while the kids can keep entertained with a free face painting session.

Bookings are essential for the event, which will run from 9:00am-12:30pm.
