Local Businesses Urged to Celebrate Innovation

By David Bell

Businesses throughout Rockhampton are being encouraged to attend an event that celebrates the innovative spirit that the city has become renowned for.

This year's Capricorn Festival of Innovation is being held today and tomorrow (May 15 and 16) at the Rockhampton Leagues Club and is expected to draw in the crowds.

A thriving business landscape such as this is essential to the health of the local economy, not to mention the benefits it can bring to anyone trying to sell property in Rockhampton.

Minister for science and innovation Ian Walker said that there is a lot for businesses to learn when they attend this event.

He continued: "The festival includes workshops, forums, and demonstrations designed to inform local businesses about the very latest ideas and technologies.

There will also be some guest speakers attending, including Channel 7's Peter Blasina, as well as one of Australia's leading experts on social media business innovation, Zoe Wyatt.

Rockhampton has made a name for itself over recent years as one of Queensland's best commercial centres by attracting both local and international businesses.

The council is keen to continue developing the area so it meets the needs of residents both now and in the future.
