Recovering From A Rental Slump – Tips To Attract Tenants

By David Bell

After investing in real estate in Rockhampton, or anywhere for that matter, the next logical step for most investors is to fill these homes with tenants and get the income ball rolling.

However, sometimes there are slumps in the market which leads to extended periods of time where the property may be empty.

These times can be difficult for whoever owns the property, as their mortgage payments will still be going out without the necessary income coming in to cover it. As an investor, this could be counterproductive to your reasons for getting into property investment in the first place.

One of the ways to entice tenants into your home is to ensure that there is a sufficient amount of kerb appeal for the property.

During a vacant period, things like tending to the gardens, repainting the fences and exterior walls, and ensuring that the roof is in top condition will all do wonders for enticing people to come to your open homes.

Making renovations to the inside of the house is also encouraged. Repairing broken or outdated fixtures and ensuring the house is looking presentable is paramount. If there were unruly and disruptive tenants in place beforehand, ensure the damages from their stay have been adequately removed.
