Rockhampton wins house of the year

By David Bell

Another Retreat Avenue property has been awarded the coveted title of Central Queensland's House of the Year at the Master Builders awards.

This is the second year running a Retreat Ave house has won the award, proving it's a sought-after area for investors looking at real estate in Rockhampton.

Both houses were built by Hooper Construction and the director, Ben Hooper, is the first person to win the prize two years in a row.

The executive-style residence is set in Sanctuary Estate and was designed over four levels to make the most of what Master Builders called a "challenging sloping block."

The property backs onto Mount Archer National Park and the house has four bedrooms and three bathrooms as well as dining and seating areas, a media room, gym, and a home office.

The house also features a large deck with breathtaking views and a top level main bedroom which can be reached by the timber staircase.

Rufus Design Group designed the winning house,  and proprietor Trevor Rufus told the Morning Bulletin that the win will be a boost for business.

The win also puts the spotlight on the area, which will be good news for people with an interest in real estate in Rockhampton.
