Whether you own real estate in Rockhampton or you just happen to be in the area later this month, fans of the theatre could be in for a treat.
On Friday 21 and Saturday 22, the Walter Reid Cultural Centre will be hosting the Rockhampton Short+Sweet play festival, a collection of 11 short plays from local playwrights.
Brought to life by actors and directors in the area, the plays will be judged in a number of categories, including best overall production, best actor and actress, best director and best script.
However, if you want to take part – don't worry. The Audience Choice award gives those in attendance a chance to vote for their favourites.
A majority of the playwrights involved in the festival took a weekend playwriting workshop earlier this year with accomplished veteran of the industry Alex Broun.
Short+Sweet festival director Sean Dennehy also conducted directing and acting classes with the participants last month.
If you are interested in supporting the local drama scene, the plays start at 7:30pm on both the Friday and Saturday, with tickets costing $20 for adults and $15 for concessions.
A full list of plays and playwrights involved in the festival are available at the Rockhampton Regional Council website.
